The World is Plastic
The world is plastic because it’s so filled with this hazardous material that many can’t even recognize the problem anymore.
You wanna know how much plastic there is?
“Approximately 51 trillion microscopic pieces of plastic, weighing 269,000 tons. That is about the same as 1345 adult blue whales. And 500 times the number of stars in our galaxy. I know which I would rather see.” (Plastic Polution)
I’m only here to approach the plastic problem through my art, to raise awareness. There’s obviously so much more to do. My focus here is on the many plastic bags which are stored in a plastic bag. This is such a common phenomenon and people keep using more plastic bags although they have a bag full of them at home!
Sea creatures are dying because they keep eating plastic, mistaking it for food. So much of our own food contains plastic and is therefore carcinogenic. There’s an island made of plastic in the water which is bigger than France. Which fact terrifies you more?
The photographs below are selfportraits, curated and edited by me as well.
