Portrait: Matin from Berlin
A little bit of insight
Matin is simple. He is two years old, the most special two-year-old, to me, that is.
I went to Berlin for a week and I stayed over with him and his family. They had a very cozy apartment in the center of Berlin which made it easy for us to see some important parts of the city. I’ve been always wanting to visit Berlin because of its history. Ever since I was in 2nd grade I watched mostly German TV and learned the language therefrom. I always felt somewhat attached to Germany, and just now I got the chance to visit.
But I experienced a total shift, the highlight of my trip became Matin. He almost instantly became one of my favorite people. I couldn’t but love and appreciate him. He wasn’t only cute, he was overwhelmingly sweet and lovely. Truth be told, I miss him very often and I look at pictures and videos of him to cheer up. I know I sound kind of obsessed but I had totally forgotten how a child can make your day.
I was not surprised to figure out that he was everyone’s favorite kid. Whoever meets him, instantly loves him. I feel truly happy and lucky to have met and spent some quality time with this amazing kid.
He got quite attached to me too. That sweetness of a baby wouldn’t go to sleep without me laying there with him. Once I looked at him while he was trying to sleep and he looked at me and we both started laughing. It was such a sweet moment and it reminded me of his spiritual maturity, how he could sense the good vibes so well and reciprocate even at his early age.
Matin made me think a lot about childhood and life. I had greatly anticipated visiting Germany but when I met him, it meant so much more.
I took many pictures of Matin because I wished to preserve the memory of him.
